is fimo normally hard? cause i bought some and it was really hard to work with, like solid... i barely made eyes and claws out of it before my fingers gave up..

it should not be that hard, that you can't work with it. it's a little hard, but when you knead it a little bit it's getting more smooth, so that it's easy to work with it.
